Warcraft on the Big Screen

After World of Warcraft’s massive success, Blizzard Entertainment and Legendary Pictures are teaming up to produce a live-action film version of the increasingly popular video game world. The Hollywood Reporter managed to chat to Blizzard’s chief operating officer Paul Sams and he said that the company had been wanting to get involved with film for awhile now but “it never really felt right”.
“We never met anyone that really understood our franchise, that got what we do. With Legendary, we found a company that specializes in building a small number of big movies. It’s very similar to what we do. Blizzard only makes a small number of games; we focus on making big, meaningful games. It’s a very similar mentality.” Sam was also impressed with Legendary’s vision the film. “[Legendary] didn’t say, ‘We want to make a great “Warcaft” movie.’ It was, ‘We want to make a great movie in the “Warcraft” universe.’ That was really important to us.”
Perhaps Warcraft can succeed where other adaptions have failed, after all we saw no sign of Uwe Boll being invovled in the project.
