Dimension Films have appointed flamboyant rocker Rob Zombie as the director of the next film to be associated with the vastly popular Halloween series. Empire reports that Zombie, who was behind “House of 1000 Corpses” and the more recent “The Devils Rejects”, will be writing and producing as well as directing the project. The reaction to the news, from the online horror community, has been mixed with some saying that Zombie will do a commendable job and others proclaiming that he should stick to his music.

A Hollywood remake of Akira Kurosawa’s samurai classic “Seven Samurai” is on the cards and is rumoured to be starring middle-aged swoon inducer (it’s the women, they love him!) George Clooney and prolific Chinese superstar, Zhang Ziyi. Dark Horizons reports that Donnie Yen is set to direct the adaption and met with Harvey Weinstein in Cannes to discuss the project, a spokesperson for Yen said that they “don’t know more details as it is still at an early stage.”

Recently ignited rumours that X4 was on the cards have today been dispelled thanks to ex-head of Marvel Studios, Avi Arad. Arad stated that there would not be another proper X-Men sequel, but that there is room for standalone spin-off’s such as “Wolverine” which has already been confirmed. Arad also announced his depature from Marvel Studios, revealing that he is starting his own production company (aptly named Avi Arad Productions) and that Michael Helfant, his old right hand man, will be filling the position.
