According to a bunch of prominent horror movie sources, there has been a few breakthroughs in terms of cast knowledge for the upcoming “Day of the Dead” remake. Blackfilm.com managed to contact Millenium Films and confirm that Ving Rhames is definitely going to be in the film whilst Mira Sorvino definitely won’t be making an appearance, but don’t worry because Mena Suvari has secured the position in question. “Besides Rhames and Suvari, the cast includes Michael Welch, Annalynne McCord, Stark Sands and Nick Cannon” who will all be under the watchful eye of Steve Miner, the project’s head honcho (let’s hope he has some Zack Snyder-esque skills under his belt). Now it’s just a case of sitting back to see what other information the swarms of fanboys can uncover - oh wait, I’d better get to work then.

The four distributors that have currently opted into the deal are Hart Sharp Video, Egami Media, Koch Entertainment and The Orchard who have stated that their movies will be distributed via an online store that Bit Torrent are currently developing and could possibly be downloadble at speeds of up to 1gb a second (well, we can have dreams). The service is expected to be introduced quite soon, although no exact date has currently been announced.

The first trailer for the upcoming Rocky sequel has gone live, showcasing the disappointingly weak but morbidly intruiging plotline and somewhat surprisingly, instilling a strange feeling of excitement within me. Head on over to Yahoo Movies to catch the trailer and experience a wave of nostalgia as the ever familiar theme music ushers you back into the immersive world of Rocky Balboa. Lets hope it’s as good as the omnipotent trailer guy is suggesting - “The greatest underdog story ever told is back for one final round”.

The Silver Surfer will indeed be making an appearance in the recently announced Fantastic Four sequel, but will not be played by a live actor. Director Tim Story has revealed that the Silver Surfer will be completely CG which could obviously make or break the infamous superhero - if he turns out to be another well handled character such as Gollum was in Lord of the Rings then perhaps he could add something enoyable to the decidely boring Fantastic Four formula, but if is done badly (which it is definitely leaning towards), he could end up being as tacky as the Hulk so sadly was.

Here’s another little snippet of DVD news for you. Creator of the Askewniverse Kevin Smith told Detroit’s Free FM radio station that Clerks II was already set for a December 5th DVD release. According to /FILM Smith disclosed almost no other details, but they expect that there will be the usual making of and behind the scenes extra footage alongside commentaries etc (nothing particularly special then). “Clerks II” opens in theatres on July 21.

Sony Pictures’ Home Entertainment faction has announced that the DVD, UMD and Blu-Ray releases of Silent Hill will be hitting stores this August. Amongst the special features already revealed is a production diary (surprised?) which will offer you an inisght into the creation of the film. Both DVD and UMD prices will be pretty much standard but the Blu-Ray edition has been expectedly marked at $38.95, which will no doubt increase with the European release.

If you’re a regular visitor to the site then you may have noticed that there has been a slight redesign. I decided to do a bit of renovation in order to address some aesthetic suggestions that various users made to me on the forums and via e-mail. Unfortunately some changes could not be implemented during this update, but I hope to get round to these as the site progresses. Anyway, please head on over to the forums and give your opinion on the new look.
