Sarah Michelle Gellar Gets Addicted

August 30th, 2006
Sarah Michelle Gellar

Sarah Michelle Gellar seems to have developed an affiinity for these chilling Asian films because it has now been revealed that she will be starring in an upcoming film dubbed “Addicted” which, according to Empire, is loosely based on South Korean film “Jungdok”. Empire also report that “The plot sees a woman whose hubby and brother-in-law both end up in comas after an accident. But when her in-law wakes up, he claims he’s her true husband.” Interesting, huh? Anyway, the project is set to be directed by Joel Bergvall and Simon Sandquist and will be based on a screenplay by Queen of the Damned scribe, Michael Petroni.

August 25th, 2006
Diary of the Dead

The dead are rising again. Try not to get too excited, but George Romero has revealed plans for his next movie which, sticking with tradition, is to be called “Diary of the Dead” and will start shooting in October. The Hollywood Reported reported that “the film will follow a group of college students shooting a horror movie in the woods who stumble upon a real zombie uprising. When the onslaught begins, they seize the moment as any good film students would, capturing the undead in a “cinema verite” style that causes more than the usual production headaches.” The movie may also be independently financed thanks to Romero becoming “frustrated working within the system”.

Shrek 3 Site Goes Live

August 18th, 2006
Shrek 3

The site for Shrek’s third adventure has gone live in a sort of sparse and superficial kind of way. It’s currently just a splash page that asks “Who’s ready for thirds?” and states the date “May 2007″. ComingSoon.net has managed to be slightly more helpful and have gotten hold of a cast list which announces the return of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Antonio Banderas, Cameron Diaz, Rupert Everett, Julie Andrews and John Cleese, whilst also revealing some new additions to the roster, including Eric Idle and Justin Timberlake.

First Snakes on a Plane Reviews Surface

August 18th, 2006
Snakes on a Plane

The first reviews of Snakes on a Plane are in and to my extreme surprise, they’re actually rather positive. Dread Central was the lucky site who published the first article (real or fake, who knows) and reviewer Nomad’s 4.5/5 verdict was a much better score than most of us would have expected. Ain’t it Cool News followed close behind, obviously boasting more credibility and the definite genuine article, they also shocked us with another conclusively positive judgement. Whether these reviews have been tainted with the infectious enthusiasm behind the online SoaP phenomenon or not, is something that will be challenged in the forthcoming week when more sources start to publish their opinions and let us know all about those motherfuckin’ snakes on that mutherfuckin’ plane (you knew I had to slip it in somewhere).

Ace Ventura 3 Announced, But No Jim

August 16th, 2006
Ace Ventura

The pet detective we all know and love will be back with us soon in Ace Ventura 3, the third instalment in the globally successful franchise. But there’s a twist, he’s not the detective we know and love after all because Jim Carrey is not going to be involved in the project. That’s right, Ace Ventura without Carrey, preposterous I know. But for what it’s worth, Rotten Tomatoes reports that this chapter will revolve around Ace’s son who is taking over the family business and will no doubt get up to some baffling mischief, just like his old Dad used to. But still, Ace Ventura without Jim Carrey, what were Morgan Creek thinking?

Saw III Teaser Goes Live

August 15th, 2006
Saw 3

The official Saw III teaser trailer has gone online over at Yahoo Movies, showcasing an agonizingly small snippet of what we should expect from Jigsaw’s next depraved adventure. This instalment see’s Jigsaw recruit the help of Amanda (Shawnee Smith) to kidnap Dr. Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) and Jeff (Angus MacFadyen) and set into motion the “race-against-time” tasks which they must endure if they wish to get out of there alive. Saw III is set for a worldwide release of October 27th.
