Harry Knowles of the infamous Ain’t it Cool News yesterday delivered his opinion on Nicholas Cage’s latest movie, Ghost Rider. Without ruining the review for you, he essentially dragged out the phrase ‘this movie sucks’ into just over 1500 words, telling us just how much the film “stunk” and turned his comic book heroes into “vapid fare”. Knowles, who perhaps doesn’t have the audience swaying power he once had, has most definitely managed to convince me that Ghost Rider is not worth my cash. Then again, it wasn’t particularly a hard feat to achieve because I thought the film looked piss-poor from the word go.

According to the folks over at Bloody Disgusting, the trailer for Resident Evil: Extinction is due to go online in the next couple of days. Of course, this probably won’t interest any of you because the public and critical consensus seems to have branded the previous Resi flicks as pure drivel. Nevertheless, keep checking the official site during the weekend and maybe you’ll catch a glimpse, whether you want to or not!

Toy Story 3 is back on the cards and just in case you are wondering, Pixar will be involved. The current details available on the project are really rather scarce, but we do know that Michael Arndt (the guy who wrote the surprisingly good Little Miss Sunshine) is going to put pen to paper for it and that it’s expected to hit cinemas some time in 2009. I think I just got a Woody (get over it).

Following the tradition of starting, but never continuing, monthly features, I have now devised a new plan to replace all of my other sadly phased out ideas. This one, I can honestly say, will be an easy article to write and therefore should be easy to perpetually sustain! *Pause for crowd cheers* Every month (fingers crossed) I shall recommend three films that I have recently watched and found interesting. They won’t all be new, they will just be movies that I have happened to watch and enjoy during that particular month. I shall stop rambling, I know you’re excited to see what films I have chosen for this month, so go on, take a look.

I’m sure you’re aware of the fact that I am a sucker for zombie films and so it was with a fairly embarrassing yelp that I came across an interesting interview on Bloody-Disgusting today which grilled director Grace Lee on the forthcoming - and intriguingly unique - American Zombie. The 4 minute segment gives you a few little insights into the “horror/comedy/mockumentary” which certainly isn’t your typical run-of-the-mill undead flick, but definitely looks to be an interesting concept nonetheless. Check out the full interview over at Bloody-Disgusting.com.

The movie modeled on one of my all-time favourite H.K. flicks (Infernal Affairs) is apparently now going to get a sequel. The Departed, which managed to gross an impressive $122m in the US alone, is going to receive a follow-up which William Monahan is scheduled to pen and will apparently involve the return of Mark Wahlberg’s character and the introduction of a new mob boss which is supposedly being specifically written for Robert De Niro, who couldn’t be in the first movie due to directorial obligations to The Good Shepherd. I guess if this goes well, Warner Bros. will adapt the third Infernal Affairs movie too, fingers crossed then?
