On the surface, Cry Wolf appears to be yet another mindless teen horror. You could definitely be forgiven for your assumptions because it certainly validates some of the stereotypes associated with such a label. After all, it is set in a school, the main characters are a suitable cross-section of teen culture, there’s a crazy killer on the loose and everyone is seemingly getting bumped off, though not before a few false alarms and fleeting glimpses of the killer. But, as uniform and unadventurous as it may sound, the film’s theme of deception is something that you should bear in mind. Read the rest of this entry »

Grindhouse isn’t even out yet and it seems that Quentin Tarantino is already planning to shoot his own solo sequel. Apparently he’ll be making a retro style kung-fu film in Mandarin which will be released uncut and subtitled in some countries whilst also being made available in a cut and dubbed version elsewhere. If you’ve been following the news you should already know that Rodriguez is also working on a similar sort of sequel dubbed Machete, which is also following the Grindhouse theme, so it seems that both directors have been caught up in the grindhouse genre. Interesting prospects anyway, well, that is if Grindhouse is any good….which I’m sure it will be.

Forget Spider-man and Pirates of the Caribbean, The Bourne Ultimatum is the film that I am most looking forward to this year. Having watched Identity and Supremacy countless times I am readying myself for a spectacular end to Robert Ludlum’s excellently adapted trilogy. The trailer does contain a lot of footage from the first two films but you’ll also get a few fast-paced glimpses of what to expect from Ultimatum, which - I’m sure you’ll agree - is looking pretty damn fine. Head on over to Yahoo Movies for a glimpse of what to expect.

A rather long trailer for the upcoming 28 Weeks Later has just been released by Fox/Atomic and I have to say that it’s not looking as bad as I was expecting. The movie seems to be a cross between 28 Days Later and Children of Men, what with the whole post-apocalyptic theme and all that jazz. Of course, I have no doubt that it will not live up to its monumentally good predecessor, but hell, I’ll give it a chance. Head on over to Apple Trailers to watch it for yourselves.
