Yes, it seems that scheduled re-make of Wes Craven’s excellently brutal ‘Last House on the Left’ is going to be a much tamer than the original. Mr Craven tried his best dispel such murmurings with some textbook spiel: “I think it’s probably the film I’ve made the hardcore fans respect the most because it’s just so brutal,” he said. “We don’t want to do it quite that brutal because it’s also just a great story. Bergman did the story and before that it was a medieval story so we’re going to try to split the difference.” But of course, skepticism is in my nature and I can’t see the film retaining its original presence.
