Jason Bourne Returns…Again…

October 21st, 2007

Matt DamonWe all saw The Bourne Ultimatum right? And we all thought it was awesome, yeah? Well it seems that even though the film’s title possessed the word ‘Ultimatum’ denoting the final part of the series, there may be another movie in the works. Matt Damon recently expressed that he wouldn’t be interested in doing any more Bourne films, but now something seems to have changed his mind again! What could it be? Crisp bank notes perhaps? No, Maaat Daaaamon wouldn’t be swayed by such petty things, I trust him, he has a trustworthy face. If Matt Damon and Ben Affleck were in a room and I had to give my PIN number to one of them, it would be Matt for sure, Ben would rob me and then possibly try to sexually assault me. He’s a sly one that Ben Affleck…anyway, a fourth Bourne film could be on the horizon, I’m not complaining like, I’d love to see one.

Friday the 13th Re-Make Rumours

September 19th, 2007

Friday the 13thAlongside Rob Zombie’s recent revival of the Halloween series, comes the resuscitation of another classic horror franchise: Friday the 13th. This isn’t particularly cutting edge news, but, some new details have just emerged regarding the project and it seems that screenwriting duo Damian Shannon and Mark Swift are being drafted in to pen the script. If such rumours turn out to be true, then I wouldn’t exactly consider them a great choice, after all, they did write the rather abysmal Freddy Vs. Jason a few years ago. But, there’s not too much to worry about because Michael Bay is producing it, so even if turns out to be drivel, then at least there’ll be some explosions.

Bond 22 to be Funnier, Bond 23…Exists

July 18th, 2007

James BondDon’t fret my friends, my absence was merely temporary and now, I am back to litter your mind with news of the next couple of Bond movies. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Daniel Craig recently stated in an interview with newspaper The Daily Express that the producers of the films want “more gags”, especially after the gunmetal shades of emotion displayed in Casino Royale. “The next one’s going to be a lot funnier. Octopussy and Pussy Galore-style gags. They’re all great names — but that’s the thing, the Bond jokes will be flipped on their heads.” he said, continuing to express that a more human, less macho version of Bond is what he wants to personally achieve with the character, “Bond is supposedly the most male moment [in film] but to me he’s never been macho. That Bond is something that Sean Connery created in Dr. No, there’s no point in trying to compete with every Bond that came before. You manage to make it your own.” Codename Bond 22 (the next film) is due to begin shooting at the end of this year and shall hit our screens sometime in 2008, rumours also slate Bond 23 for a 2010 release.

Some Kill Bill 3 and 4 Plot Details Revealed

June 26th, 2007

Kill BillIf you’ve not heard already, Quentin Tarantino is planning to release two more Kill Bill films some time in the near future and today, some plot details have emerged courtesy of Bennett Walsh - an executive producer of the previous films. The third series instalment is apparently going to detail the revenge of two killers who Uma Thurman’s character Beatrix antecedently dismembered and the fourth film will supposedly be about a bunch of angry daughters attempting to avenge the deaths of their mothers. No doubt a lot of blood and violence shall be involved, so I will be keeping you posted. Read the rest of this entry »

Fox Planning Die Hard 5

June 5th, 2007

Die HardWith the release date of Live Free or Die Hard (a crappy title if you’re asking me) looming, Bruce Willis has already been out and about spreading rumours that a 5th Die Hard movie could be on the horizon. “Fox is already talking about doing another one.” Willis told journalists at a recent press junket “I told them I would only do it if Len (Wiseman) was involved. And Maggie Q. Oh, yeah…And Justin (Long) of course. We couldn’t do it without Justin.” Of course, I’ll have to see Live Free or Die Hard before I can say whether I’m excited by these possibilities, but it’ll have to be bloody good to convince me to keep pumping money into sequels. Oh well, I’ll no doubt end up getting brainwashed by the trailers anyway - I usually do.

Winehouse Not a Bond Girl, But Who Should Be?

May 11th, 2007

James BondI think we can all breathe a little easier tonight knowing that Amy Winehouse will not be in the next Bond film, Bond 22. During a recent interview she told MTV: “I’m just not an actress … It can’t be true,” Rotten Tomatoes reckon she’ll be on the soundtrack, which I think will be a better fit. Megan Fox should be a Bond Girl hmmm or Monica Belluci or Jessica Biel, the list is too long! If you have an idea about who you reckon should be a Bond girl head over to the contact page and drop me a note (make the message title ‘Bond Girl Vote’), in a week or so I’ll bring together all the entries and compile a top 5 list of wanted Bond girls! Spur of the moment blog ideas = genius feature!

New Terminator Trilogy Coming

May 10th, 2007

TerminatorThe new folks in charge of the rights to the Terminator franchise - Halcyon (no never heard of them either) - have today announced that there is indeed to be more Terminator films on our screens in the near future, three of them apparently. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look Arnie nor James Cameron will be involved, but there is news that the writers behind Terminator 3 have already penned the fourth movie and that Jonathon Mostow is once again on board to direct. The film will ostensibly focus on John Connor and be heavily related to narrative points hinted at in T3. My prediction? Not very good. I mean, Terminator 3 was a bit shit wasn’t it?

Spider-man 4 Villain Details Already!

May 5th, 2007

Spider-manWell first off, I didn’t even know there was going to be a Spider-man 4, I’ve only just seen 3 for god’s sake, but apparently it’s already been planned and will go ahead with or without Sam Raimi at the helm. Secondly, Freeze Dried Movies has uncovered information (genuine or not, I am unsure) about the villains that will appear in this fourth instalment. Apparently Carnage (Cletus Kasady) will be making an appearance, which I have to admit would be pretty amazing considering he is one vicious bastard - I’m not sure how they’d work his personality into a 12A movie though, perhaps Spidey will get a certification upgrade. Anyway, head to Freeze Dried Movies for the full article. Read the rest of this entry »

Crank Gets a…Sequel

May 1st, 2007

CrankAs an unashamed fan of Jason Statham’s endless sub-par forays into the world of action cinema, I woke up this morning happy to be greeted by the news that the next Crank movie will indeed be a sequel and not - as rumoured - a prequel. Brian taylor and Mark Neveldine, the duo behind the writing and directing of the first film spoke to The Movie Blog: “There will be a sequel to Crank yes. Prepare to Crank again. And you know the ‘is it a sequel or prequel’ question… IT’S A SEQUEL. We’re not selling out and going prequel. We are picking up where the last movie left off.” I guess that pretty much spells it out for you. Needless to say, expect more gratuitous violence and tongue-in-cheek hi-jinks.

Last House on the Left…for Kids

April 25th, 2007

Last House on the LeftYes, it seems that scheduled re-make of Wes Craven’s excellently brutal ‘Last House on the Left’ is going to be a much tamer than the original. Mr Craven tried his best dispel such murmurings with some textbook spiel: “I think it’s probably the film I’ve made the hardcore fans respect the most because it’s just so brutal,” he said. “We don’t want to do it quite that brutal because it’s also just a great story. Bergman did the story and before that it was a medieval story so we’re going to try to split the difference.” But of course, skepticism is in my nature and I can’t see the film retaining its original presence. There will obviously be that unmistakable Craven sparkle to it, but that will probably be obscured by commercial studio smog. These Hollywood money spinning schemes of re-packaging classics is nothing less than a messy rape of the horror genre’s distinguished heritage, [Preacher Persona] oh lord when will it stop? [End Preacher Persona].
