The American trailer for Zhang Yimou’s upcoming “Curse of the Golden Flower” has gone live over at Sony Classics. IMDB’s plot outline of the movie states: “The ill-fated romance between an imperial bodyguard and a prince takes the lovers on a dangerous journey where royal family secrets are revealed.” Which, coupled with the lavish trailer, should give you a good impression of what to expect. The film star’s Gong Li and Chow Yun-Fat and is set to hit US cinemas on December 22 at the end of this year.

The official Saw III teaser trailer has gone online over at Yahoo Movies, showcasing an agonizingly small snippet of what we should expect from Jigsaw’s next depraved adventure. This instalment see’s Jigsaw recruit the help of Amanda (Shawnee Smith) to kidnap Dr. Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) and Jeff (Angus MacFadyen) and set into motion the “race-against-time” tasks which they must endure if they wish to get out of there alive. Saw III is set for a worldwide release of October 27th.

After having taken a 2 week hiatus from the western world, I felt I’d better catch up on all the trailers I missed whilst I was away. So today I got down to business and sat through a veritable host of videos, from which I have picked some of the more competent and interesting offerings to impose my opinions upon. During the process, despite sitting through trailers ranging from very good to almost suicide worthy, I decided that I may make this a regular monthly feature, hence the #1 in the title. Anyway, without further ado. Read the rest of this entry »

As you may or may not know, world famous comic convention Comic-Con has been going on for the past couple of days over in San Diego, California. There have been a number of interesting announcements related to the world of film, many of which shed light on previously hazy situations. First up, was a little bit of plot info regarding the sequel to Danny Boyle’s “28 Days Later” (which Boyle will not be a part of). “28 Weeks Later picks up six months after the Rage virus has decimated the city of London . The US Army has restored order and is repopulating the quarantined city, when a carrier of the Rage virus enters London and unknowingly re-ignites the spread of the deadly infection, wreaking havoc on the entire population.” Plot holes and problems? Yes, as we all predicted.

The first trailer for the upcoming Rocky sequel has gone live, showcasing the disappointingly weak but morbidly intruiging plotline and somewhat surprisingly, instilling a strange feeling of excitement within me. Head on over to Yahoo Movies to catch the trailer and experience a wave of nostalgia as the ever familiar theme music ushers you back into the immersive world of Rocky Balboa. Lets hope it’s as good as the omnipotent trailer guy is suggesting - “The greatest underdog story ever told is back for one final round”.

Yet another promo trailer has been released for the increasingly popular “Snakes on a Plane” - a film with a quite literally self explanatory title. The new trailer features a bit more footage than we saw from the previous (official and fan-made) ones and has already started winging it’s way around on the forum circuit, provoking yet more second-rate puns. Already widely acclaimed as a cult hit before it’s release, “Snakes on a Plane” will hit cinemas on August 18th and seems set for box office success - although the tiring joke may have run it’s course by then. Watch the trailer over at Yahoo Movies.

After the release of “Jackass: The Movie” in 2002 it seemed that the whole Jackass saga had reached maturity and was on it’s way out. But some new footage has surfaced on the official Jackass movie site, indicating that there is, infact, a sequel on it’s way. Judging by the main trailer, “Jackass Number Two” seems to feature the same formula of mischevious and extreme shenanigans that we have come to expect from the crew (oh yes, they’re all there - Knoxville, Bam, Steve-O and co.) and according to the site, will reach US theatres on September 22. The main trailer can be viewed on Yahoo Movies and there is also some additional footage on the official Jackass site.

The trailer for Nicholas Cage’s next action flick, Ghost Rider, was released today via the Apple trailers site. The CGI looks rather cheap and from what I saw, Cage doesn’t seem to be the right person for a role of this type; but perhaps it will turn out to be a healthy slice of comic book action - something that seems to become less and less exciting with every adaption, can anyone say genre saturation? Ghost Rider is scheduled for worldwide release in the first quarter of 2007.

Stalking in the shadow of “United 93″ is “World Trade Center”, Oliver Stone’s new film that portrays the tragic events of September 11 2001. But whether you’re interested or disgusted by this sudden influx of 9/11 films, you’ll no doubt be interested in the brand-new World Trade Center trailer. The film follows the true story of two New York police officers, Will Jimeno and John McLoughlin, that bravely helped to rescue people from the falling buildings, but ended up becoming trapped themselves.
